There are some amongst us that believe in the absolute and literal truth of The Bible. The Green Man has always found this a somewhat difficult concept to embrace if you are talking about an English version since it is a translation and, as such, is filtered through the values and prejudices of the person(s) translating it. The counter argument, of course, is that the translators were divinely inspired to create a true and accurate translation.
Whether or not this is true, all those who fall into this camp be thankful that Peachtree Editorial and Proofreading are as good at their job as they are. Those who also happen to be mathematicians will be relieved that they do not have to give up their profession, the call to an end to "fractions" being corrected by Peachtree to an end to "factions".
This and numerous other typos have been assiduously smote by Peachtree from the Holman Christian Standard Bible, a recently completed $20 million project, retranslating The Bible from the original mixure of ancient Greek, Aramaic and Hebrew.
Unlike the 1631 King James edition, the Holman Christian Standard Bible does not contain the commandment
"Thou shalt commit adultery."
